Valentine's Day for Kids: This Valentine' Day, Make Homemade Candy!

Valentine’s Day for Kids:

This Valentine’s Day,
make homemade candy with your children!

Candy? Who doesn’t love candy? And especially on Valentine’s Day? A fun way to spend Valentine’s Day with your children is to make homemade candy. Need some ideas? Here are some tips! Create your own chocolate candy with your own candy molds! Ganjoy Decorating Tips Bag Pen and Chocolate Candy Molds on Amazon contains three shapes: gift boxes, roses, and hearts. Make 24 candies in this silicone, microwavable pan that can also go into the freezer or dishwasher. Another great chocolate mold is the “Be Mine” on Double Bite Size Chocolate Candy Mold Valentines Day 3036, which contains two overlapping hearts with the words “Be Mine” printed on them—12 sets in all. Adorable!

Chocolate lollipops are also fun to make! A great mold for lollipops is the Valentine Assortment V196 Valentine's Day chocolate candy mold. This set contains four adorable chocolate heart and bear molds. Sticks are also included. Another mold is the Koala Bear with Heart Lollipop Chocolate Candy Mold Valentines Day 3020 that features cute Koala Beats holding a heart that says “I Wuv You”. This can be bought along with the Love on a Heart Lollipop Chocolate Candy Mold 218 at a discounted price. All of these items are available on Amazon, and can be delivered to your house on time before the big day! Here are the step-by-step directions:

·    Chocolate Candy: First, wash mold thoroughly and dry. Then, melt chocolate of your choice in a pan (do not microwave), melt on the stove, and pour into clean, dry molds. Tap lightly onto the counter top to eliminate bubbles. Place in the freezer, and pop the candy out of the mold. This set also includes decorative icing tips to pipe icing into the candy, if desired.
·    Valentine Suckers: Prepare chocolate as directed above. However, after the chocolate is poured, place sticks into the mold. Place in the freezer to harden and enjoy Valentine Lollipops!
Another fun activity to do with your children is to make fudge! You can also make it in any flavor you desire. Just use the flavor of chocolate chips you like! Here is a VERY easy recipe that your children will love!

·     Instant Fudge: First, line a square glass baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside. Open a regular bag of chocolate chips and add a small can of sweetened condensed milk. Add a sprinkle of salt. Heat on the stove until chocolate chips are melted, and then pour immediately into the glass baking dish. Last, place in the refrigerator or freezer until fudge is set. I’ve made this type of fudge in white chocolate, peanut butter, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate. All tasted great!

Another fun activity to do with your children is to make Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Strawberries! I did this with my eldest son when he was little and had a great time! It’s a bit messy, but lots of fun!

·         Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Strawberries: Melt chocolate chips in a pan on the stove. After the chocolate melts, pour into a shallow glass bowl. Let your children drop pretzels into the chocolate, and then use a fork to pull out. Lay on waxed paper to cool. Carefully dip the strawberries into the chocolate, being careful not to cover the chocolate. Lay on waxed paper to cool.

Have fun with your children making these recipes and more! All of the items mentioned above can be purchased on Amazon. Have fun! You’re only limited by your imagination!
